Terry Lyons

Terry Lyons, 81, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 while in Hospice care at home with his wife Debby.

Terrence M. Lyons was born on December 17, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents James and Velma Lyons.

After high school, he married Karen Harnist and they had five children, Terry, Timothy, Kathy, Kristie, and Tricia.

He moved to Danville in 1978 and began working for Walgreens Accounting Center. There he met his wife, Debby and they have a son, Michael. Terry loved his job at Walgreens, becoming Director in the 1990s. He also loved Danville and the many people he would come to know as dear friends, Al and Pat, Ronnie and George, Greg and Karen. Al, thank you for being a devoted friend.

The Possum Trot was his favorite place for his "Rum and Coke" and he loved Tommy K on the piano. Terrys father had a supper club.

We all loved Terry for his big heart and generous spirit and of course the teasing.

Terry and Debbys favorite vacation spot was Siesta Key, Florida. After retirement, they would sometimes go twice a year. Also sharing it with their loved ones and closest friends.

In 2016, Terry began having health issues, he was treated at OSF Cancer Center for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, also he was having strokes and in the end brain cancer.

Terry is survived by his wife, Debby and all of his children. He also has ten grandchildren, Sarah, Samuel, Maxwell, Sophie, Katelyn, Alex, Eric, Jaelyn, Helen, and Mariah. Also surviving are his only brother Dennys children, Patty, Dennis, and Theresa. His cousin, Cathy Church, of Kentucky also survives him.

Terry will be sadly missed by Cindy and Kip, Kevin and Marianne. He had a special bond with his nephew, Eddie Quintana, who he mentored and was like a "Grandpa". He was also close to his grandson, Jaelyn.

His daughter, Kristie, came to help her father back in 2019 during a real bad time for him. She was also with him a few days before his passing.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Denny.

We would like to thank OSF Hospital and staff for Terrys care, also Dr. Labayog and staff at the OSF Cancer Center.

We will have A Celebration of Life Service for this wonderful man at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834.

Memorials may be made in Terrys memory to the Humane Society or Wounded Warrior Project.
