Terry Lee Acord

Terry Lee Acord, 59, of Tilton IL passed away at 10:45am on Monday, September 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 15, 1952 in Danville Illinois to Ira Leroy and Mary Louise Edwards Acord. He married Mary Ann Miller on February 17, 2003 in Las Vegas Nevada, she survives. Other survivors include his mother Mary Louis Edwards of Westville, two sons Mark (Jodi) Acord of Tulsa Oklahoma and Jerry (Debbie) Acord of Ft. Wayne Indiana, one stepdaughter Joanna (Paul) Collom of Danville, one brother Leland Acord of Covington Indiana and two granddaughters Dixie and Emilie Acord. He is preceded in death by his father and one stepson Chris Miller. Terry attended Westville schools and served in the US Army from 1971 to 1978. He worked for the SCX Railroad and the Danville Veterans Affairs hospital as a medical records clerk. He was a member and former Commander of the American Legion post # 51 of Westville. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and he enjoyed gardening and trying his luck at the slot machines. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Baby Doll. A celebration of Terry's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home Danville. Officiating services will be Bill Carpenter. Burial will be held at Danville National Cemetery with military rights conducted by the Westville American Legion Post # 51. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Terry's name to Carle Hospice or the American Legion Post # 51 of Westville.
