Terry Carpenter

Terry D. Carpenter, 64, of Danville finished his last ride on October 4, 2018 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. He was born on March 3, 1954 in Danville, the son of Dorothy Juvinall Pollitt. Terry married Judith Evans, daughter of Ray and Vivian Evans, on November 15, 1974. Together they had two sons, Marcus (Jenny) Carpenter and Matthew Carpenter and after 26 years of marriage, they continued to lovingly co-parent both boys. Terry will be dearly missed by his brothers; Darrell (Sandy) Carpenter, and Randy (Glenda) Carpenter, sisters; Dee Wilson, Jeanette Covington, step-brothers; Mike Pollitt and Steve Divan, step-sisters; Tammy Pollitt and Linda Divan, grandchildren; Kyle, Tayler, Lilly and Jaxsen and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; David and Hattie Juvinall, mother; Dorothy Juvinall Pollitt, son; Matthew Carpenter, brother; Bobby Carpenter, sister; Dianne Price and step-brother; Howard Pollitt. Terry graduated from Oakwood High School in 1972. He continued his education at Danville Area Community College where he received his Associate's in Applied Technology. He retired from SBC Global in 2011. To say that Terry was born to ride would be an understatement. He has logged thousands of miles on his many Harley Davidson motorcycles with his favorite trip being to Harley Davidson's 100th Anniversary party in Milwaukee, WI. Terry enjoyed his retirement by working in his yard and relaxing on his porch swing. He was a founding member of the H.O.G Illinois Middle Fork Chapter and a proud NRA member. Terry was the protector of his family and friends. His sons were his greatest accomplishments and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Terry would often refer to his daughter in law, Jenny and her lifelong friend Kristin Duke as the daughters he never had. He also adored his "god granddaughter" Madison Duke. His memory will be deeply cherished by his childhood and lifelong friends, Dave Redman, Mike "Smitty" Smith and Scott "Scooter" McClure. They were often referred to as the "Four Amigos". A celebration of Terry's life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 12, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion in Danville. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Midwest Veteran's Association.
