Terry Lee Buchanan, 79, of Monticello, passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2025. He was born on December 25, 1945, in Lafayette, Indiana, the son of Fenimore and Marian (Hoffman) Buchanan.
Terry leaves behind a loving family, including his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Ann Buchanan; children, Joie (David) Edbrooke, Tera (Doug) Jones, Monica Williams, and Travis (Kelli) Buchanan; sister, Debbie (Mike) Reeder; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Garrett, Tim, Chelsey, Conner, Colton (Claudia), Hunter, Tucker, and Lilli, as well as 8 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carla Hawkins; and grandson, Brian Winholtz.
For 30 years, Terry dedicated himself to his work as an appliance repairman for Sears, where his skills and work ethic earned him admiration from both colleagues and customers alike.
Terry often talked of fun (mischievous!) times he shared with cousins growing up, as well as days of farming with his dad. In later years, he enjoyed simple things in life… time with family and mornings spent with buddies over coffee.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Kira for the wonderful care she gave to Terry, as well as to Carle Hospice.
Memorials may be made to Tatman Village, Monticello, the place Terry was so happy to call “home”.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Mahomet Chapel 1102 Churchill Rd. Mahomet, Illinois 61853 is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. In accordance with Terry's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
Please join Terry’s family in sharing memories, photos, and video on his tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
