Teddy E. Dougherty

Newport, Ind. - Teddy E. Dougherty, 77, of Newport passed away at 8:29 p.m. EST Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Harrison Crossings Health Campus in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born March 7, 1943 in Danville, Illinois the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Brown) Dougherty.

Teddy married Mary Norman on November 4, 1962 in Danville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2017.

Survivors include his son: Mike (Christine) Dougherty of Danville, Illinois; five grandchildren: Derrick Dougherty of Chicago, Illinois; Angel Dougherty and Alicia Dougherty both of Georgia; Jordan Dougherty of Texas and Tristan Dougherty of Danville, Illinois, and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son: Ted Dougherty; three sisters and three brothers.

Teddy and his late wife, Mary were owners/operators of a mobile concession stand and would travel all over the area to the different County and State Fairs. Teddy attended Danville High School and was a former member of the Newport Lions Club. He enjoyed driving his golf cart around Newport and visiting with his friends. Teddy was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Funeral services with limited capacity: 1 p.m. EST Saturday, February 13, 2021 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Keith McIntyre; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 11 a.m. EST until time of services at the funeral home. Due to the current Executive Order and per the family's request, masks will be required for entry.
