Ted Lee Brinegar, 83, of Urbana, formerly of Fithian, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 at home with his family by his side. Ted was born on September 14, 1924 in Tarkio, Missouri, the son of Binus and Clara (Coppenbarger) Brinegar. He married Betty Malott on February 10, 1945 in Springfield, Illinois. She survives. He is also survived by his two sons- Randall (Deb) Brinegar of Danville and Gary Brinegar of San Diego, California; three daughters- Tonda (David) Perry of Charleston, Illinois, Peggy (Brad) Miracle of Quincy, Illinois and Jennifer (Neil) Young of Sturtevant, Wisconsin; one sister- Charlene Tyra of Texarkana, Texas; 10 grandchildren- Frank (Stephanie) Perry, Matthew Perry, Kurt Miracle, Wendy Miracle, Jessica Young, Amy (Neal) George, Aaron Brinegar, Emily Brinegar, Mallory Brinegar and Luke Brinegar; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father- Glenn Wallcott; one sister- Maxine Butler; three brothers- W.A. Brinegar, Ed Brinegar and Jerry Brinegar; and one step-brother- Harry Wallcott. Ted was a hard worker and self made man. He worked for Addressograph " Multigraph Company of Cleveland, Ohio from 1945 to 1963, owned Overhead Door Company in Danville and Champaign from 1963 to 1977, and owned Midwest Home Improvement from 1959 to 1988, until he retired. He was a member of the Fithian United Methodist Church since 1949. He served on the church board for many years, as well as the Fithian School Board for 14 years. Ted was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan especially since they won the division in 1945. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, music, reading and following the stock market. Ted lived in Fithian for 49 years. He loved working on his farm and taking long walks there. His greatest joy was being a professional Grandpa, he loved spending time with the grandchildren and doing anything for them. Teds family meant the world to him and will be sadly missed by them. A Celebration of the Life of Ted Lee Brinegar will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Fithian United Methodist Church, with Pastor Allen Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. There will also be a visitation at the church from 9:00 " 10:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be at Stearns Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Childrens Bus Stop Breakfast Fund.
