Tara Lin (Laird) Fares, age 49, of Danville, passed away at 4:45pm Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on May 6, 1972, in Danville at Lakeview Hospital to Glen H. and Linda Laird. She married William 'Bill' Fares on December 26, 2018, at the Second Church of Christ in Danville.
Tara is survived by her mother Linda Laird and her fianc Richard Phillips, her father Glen H. 'Butch' (Muffy) Laird, her daughter LinAnn Riggleman, her husband William 'Bill' Fares and his three boys Curtis, Andrew, and Daniel; her siblings Niki (Timothy) Morgan, Joseph (Rebecca) Laird, her nieces Alli-Jo, Casey-Jo and nephew Elijah; her Aunt Sandra (Arnold) Herzing, Uncle James O. (Trudy) Crow, Great Uncle Jerry (Ayet) Crow, her cousins Christine (William) Vogel, Karen (William) Hammer, Derrick (Natalie) Crow, Brent (Andrea) Crow, Patrick (Gayla) Beagle, and Leisa (Tim) Nimrick, and her first husband Brian Hoffman, and her second husband Mark Riggleman.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Mildred Crow and grandfather James A. Crow, and her paternal grandmother Mary Johnson and grandfather Glen A. Laird.
Tara was a graduate of Danville High School, Class of 1990. She earned her associate's degree at Danville Area Community College and graduated with her bachelors degree from Eastern Illinois University.
Tara began working in the Hoopeston Area Community Unit School District #11 as a teacher aide in August 1996 with the kindergarten physical education classes. She taught first grade beginning in August of 1999, and she continued her teaching career at Maple Grade School till her passing. She served the Hoopeston Area District #11 for 25 years.
Tara instituted the outdoor lending library at Maple School in 2019. She built many relationships with her students during her school teaching and they all remained special to her. Tara also was devoted to the Maple School Veterans Day Recognition and many student contributions each year.
A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Second Church of Christ, 3350 E Voorhees St. in Danville, Illinois.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Second Church of Christ with Pastor Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville following the service.
The family requests memorials in Tara's name for the Maple Grade School reading program.
