Tanya Maria Daniels

Mattoon - Tanya Maria Daniels was born on May 21st, 1957 to Charlotte Daniels-Shackelford and Pal Shackelford in Chicago, Illinois. She attended elementary school in West Memphis, AR and Champaign, IL. Later Tanya completed her business certificate in Chicago, Illinois. Tanya led a happy and successful life, residing most of her adult life in Hyde Park, which is a neighborhood in Chicago. She worked 20+ years for the Internal Revenue Service, receiving many promotions and awards. Most notably, an award from President Bill Clinton for her Excellence in Performance. To know Tanya Maria Daniels, was to love her. She was known for her unique sense of humor, her love of fashion and her dear sweet spot for her family. On Dec. 2nd, 2016 at 9:49am in Mattoon, Illinois, Tanya Maria Daniels passed on to be with our Loving Father. She was proceeded in death by both of her grandparents and her brother Keith D. Shackelford. Tanya is survived by her mother Charlotte Daniels Shackelford of Champaign; three children Terrance (Danae) Daniels of Champaign, Latoya Merriweather of Champaign, and Dominique Webster of Chicago; seven grandchildren Adonis, Armani, Asaia, Jacai, Tyrique, Terrance Jr., and Ak'i; sister Valarie Johnson of Champaign; brothers Mark Shackelford of Washington and Corey (Kim) Shackelford of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews. Tanya was an early riser who loved to tell jokes, pull pranks, shop for Coach purses, and read. Her many friends and family will quote her quirky sayings and jokes for years to come. There are no words to describe how much she is loved and missed already. Our deepest thanks to Palm Terrace Nursing Home and the staff of Sarah Bush Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
