Sylvester "Sully" Schultz passed this life May 27th, in Naples, Florida at the age of 91. Sully was born to Viola and William Schultz on August 7th, 1920 in Danville, IL. He served in the US Army during World War II and reached the rank of Sgt. On his return to the states he worked for a time at the Danville Brick Yards and in 1950 opened his own business, Schultz Nursery. He worked for over 50 years and retired in 2009 at the age of 88. The nursery has been a staple in the Danville area for the past 62 years and continues on to this day. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife MaryEllen of 71 years. A sister, Virginia Adams of Kemah, Texas and a brother, Glen Schultz (Vivan) of Covington, Indiana. Two sons, Larry (Wilma) and Randy (Vicki). He was blessed with 5 grandchildren; Todd, Stacey (Jason), Holly, Chris, and Tim (Jamie). 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Sully loved to plant gardens and knew just what would work in any given landscape. He loved to spend time fishing in the winter at their home in Florida, playing poker at the clubhouse on Friday nights, played on the shuffle board team and until 2 years ago he also made pancakes for the folks every other Thursday at Palm River MHP in Naples, Florida. His other hobby was to "doodle' and in the past several years, he produced some wonderful pieces of art and enjoyed watching others enjoy his work. They were also members of Calvary Baptist Church of Tilton. A celebration of life for "Sully" will be held on Monday, June 4th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Joe Humrichous officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville.
