After being surrounded by family and friends for several days, Suzanne Mockaitis passed away at age 66 from complications related to Multiple Sclerosis on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, Illinois. Suzanne bravely fought her progressing disease at home for many years. Suzanne was born December 28, 1944, in Danville, IL, to parents David & Miriam Volk. She was a lifelong resident of Georgetown, Illinois, and made many childhood friends in the area. She met her husband, Zigmas, at Georgetown High School where they both graduated in 1963. Suzanne and Zigmas were married May 6, 1967, at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Georgetown and have been parishioners there since. Suzanne worked at the Commercial News in Danville and Mossers Shoes in Danville while she was in her twenties. In recent years, she enjoyed visits from family & friends and going out to eat at different restaurants. Her smile and quiet nature will be dearly missed. Suzanne is survived by: her husband, Zigmas; her daughters, Molly (Josh) Isenberg of Naperville, Jane Mockaitis of Chicago, & Julie (David) Tjhio of Chicago; her granddaughter, Margo Isenberg of Naperville; her sister, Mary Lee (Steve) Land of Ridge Farm; her niece, Natalie (Bill) Cottrell of Westville; great-niece, Lacee Cottrell of Westville; her great nephew, Will Cottrell of Westville; her sisters-in-law, Mary (Kevin Watkins) Mockaitis of Iowa City, IA, & Jan (Jim) Kouzmanoff of Danville; her brother-in-law, Vitus (Janet) Mockaitis of Decatur; her nephew, Mike Watkins of Iowa City; her niece, Julie Watkins of Iowa City; her nephews, Peter Mockaitis of Chicago & David Mockaitis of Amsterdam, Netherlands; her niece, Vicki (Ken) Dabrowka and children, Delaney & Ian, of Pasadena, Maryland; her nephew, Jeff (Connie) Mockaitis and children, Paxton & Parker, of Lindenhurst, IL; and many loving friends from Georgetown area. Special thanks to Alverta Maskel for her compassionate help. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am, Thursday, April 14, 2011, at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 109 W 7th St, Georgetown with Father John Paninski officiating. Visitation will be 4-8pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, A Life Celebration Home, in Georgetown. Interment will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Westville, IL. Memorial donations can be made in Suzannes honor to National MS Society, Greater Illinois Chapter, 525 W.
