Susan B. Dunkerly Winchester 68, of Covington, Indiana, passed this life at 6:33 pm EST. on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Services will be on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 at 12 noon EST, visitation will be at 10 a.m. EST until time of the service at Sunset Funeral Home, Covington IN. Chapel, 420 3rd St., Covington, Indiana. Burial will follow at Newport (Thomas) Cemetery, Newport, IN.
Susan was born May 26, 1956 in Danville, Illinois, the third daughter of Charles "Dunk" and Ruth Patrick Dunkerly. Susan grew up in Cayuga, Indiana and graduated from North Vermillion High School, Class of 1974. She was looking forward to attending her 50th class reunion in September.
After graduation, Susan was employed at the Commercial-News, Covington Bureau, working with Louise Osgood. Later, she transferred to the Danville Office and worked for many years in the classified advertising department. She retired from The Commercial-News in 2021.
Survivors include her son, Mark Nicholas Winchester, two step-daughters, Heather and Jessica Winchester, Danville, Illinois, a sister and brother-in-law, Lynn (Gary) Langley, Covington, Indiana; four grandchildren, Gaige, Collin, Rain and Jaron and great grandson, Eli; nephew Jeff (Kristi) Lamb, Cayuga, Indiana; two nieces, Holly (Roger) Owen of Danville, IL., and Sharon (Andrew) Toon, Terre Haute, Indiana and many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Susan leaves her "besties" Donna, Rachel, Linda, Rhonda and many friends to carry on in remembrance of her. Susan will be sorely missed by her cat, Mike, who was adopted by Lynn and Gary after Susans passing. Susan enjoyed her flowers and yard, loved her little house in Covington, sunflowers, watching Hallmark movies, cooking and was known for her decadent macaroni and cheese. Holiday dinners will never be the same without itand her! Susan was always smiling and laughing and was the life of the party. She was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and a sister, Patrice Dunkerly Lamb.
Susan was a member of the Cayuga (IN.) Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder for many years.
