Susan P. Lovett

Susan P. Lovett, a devoted Jehovah's Witness, died on Monday January1, 2018. She was 80. She was born Maarch5, 1937 to the late Samuel and Hazel Jordan. She was the youngest of 8 children and grew up on a farm between Georgetown and Indianola. She learned self sufficiency and could sew, quilt, crochet, knit, garden, raise livestock; cook, can, and freeze food and do anything that needed done. She enjoyed many forms of art including drawing, painting, and making stained glass. Susan took accounting courses at Georgetown High School, graduating in 1955. She used those skills for more than 40 years as the accountant for Lovett Construction Co. where her accurate bookkeeping was greatly appreciated. Susan married Edward Lovett June 7, 1958. They honeymooned at the historic 1958 International Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in New York. They were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses April 16, 1960. They worked as a team for nearly 60 years in the door-to-door ministry, raising their children, building kingdom halls with a group of volunteers, and in their business Lovett's Construction. Susan lived joyfully with great dignity. She greatly enjoyed traveling with Ed and they had many adventures. Working with Ed remodeling and building homes was another creative outlet. Some of the homes built were her original concepts. In 1975 Ed and Sue moved to a 99-year-old house they completely restored. She spent many hours refinishing, wallpapering, and painting. Nothing could rob her joy and even in difficult circumstances she often commented, "You might as well laugh." Sue's faith and service to Jehovah never wavered. All who knew her knew about her love for and faith in Jehovah God. She loved the door to door ministry and conducting home bible studies. She is survived by: her husband Edward Lovett, her children Larry Lovett (Kimberly), Lavana (Randall Hawkins); grandchildren, Christina (Josh Hires), Stephanie (Kevin Deutsch), Jordan Burr (Zach Mahoney), Jade (Terrance Dillard), Jasmin (David Hutson), Zachary Hawkins (Virva), Nathan Hawkins (Andrea), Isaac Hawkins (Kori), Judah Hawkins; sister Caroline Brown, 5 great grandchildren and many other loved ones. Sue loved and mothered many who she eagerly looked forward to being with again on earth when it is returned to God's original purpose. She is preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings.
