Steven L. Blakely

Steven L. Blakely, 53, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018. He was born to David and Marilyn Neet Blakely on December 22, 1964. He married Kimberly Edwards in Zimbabwe, Africa on July 7, 1998. They have three sons, Tom (17), John (15) and Henry (12).

Steven graduated from North High School, Terre Haute, Indiana in 1983. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity while attending DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Steven graduated in 1987 with high honors. He also attended the University of Zagreb, Croatia. Steven earned his Juris Doctorate Cum Laude in 1990 from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Steven was admitted to practice law in Illinois and Indiana.

Steven was a partner at Acton & Snyder, LLP, Danville, Illinois, and was an active member of numerous federal and state courts in Indiana, Illinois and Arkansas, as well as the United States Supreme Court. He was a distinguished and accomplished attorney and a polished litigator.

He was interested in history, especially American Presidents. He was well-traveled, having visited most of the world continents. Steven enjoyed spending time with his boys, whether watching television programs on history, fishing or watching their sporting events. He found time in his busy schedule to attend weekend hockey games for all three boys. Steven was always ready with an anecdote about Toms hat-tricks, Johns tackles and Henrys RBIs. And, he was quick to tell a tale about Leroys escapades in the country.

Visitation is at Sunset Funeral Home, Danville, Illinois, on December 8, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. Acton & Snyder will host a reception for family at the Danville Country Club immediately following.
