Steven Brunner

Steven F. Brunner, 60, of Covington, Indiana passed away on January 19, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, IN. Steven was born September 10, 1949 in Landisburg, PA son of James T. and Nora F. (Foster) Brunner. He married Christine Waggoner on June 15, 1974 in Landisburg, PA. She survives along with their two children: Aaron J. (Stacey) Brunner of Newalla, OK and their children Benjamin & Samuel; Chad S. (Erin) Brunner of Twinsburg, OH and their child Dylan; two sisters: Joan (Tim) Holsopple of Loysville, PA and Carol (Ed) Saleh of Fayetteville, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Steve pursued everything in life with passion, vision, and commitment. With these qualities and a tireless work ethic he rarely failed to achieve anything he set out to accomplish. He began his working career as a fork lift operator at the Quaker Oats Companys Shiremanstown, PA plant in 1969. His career included assignments in Dallas, Cedar Rapids, and Chicago. Steve became plant manager of the Danville, Illinois plant in 1990 where he served for eleven years. Under his leadership the Danville plant expanded and became one of Quakers key plants. The plant was honored by Industry Week Magazine in 1998 as one of the top ten plants in America. Steve finished his distinguished career with Quaker leading the development of a security program for Quaker Foods and Gatorade plants. Steve has had a passion for hunting and fishing since a young age, and enjoyed hunting with his sons out west. He was a humble and selfless person who loved to share his faith; he was a member of the New Life Christian Center where he served in many roles. After retirement he put his passion into farming, family, and his beloved grandchildren. More than anything Steve loved being with everyone, going as far as digging a pond and buying horses (which he referred to as grandchildren magnets) to facilitate the creation of many memories that he and everyone will cherish forever. A Celebration of Stevens Life will be held at 10:00 am CT, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at New Life Christian Center with Pastor Doug Knapp officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm CT Friday evening at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. In lieu of floral arrangements please send memorials in Steves name to Impact Ministry at New Life Christian Center 2105 N. Bowman Ave. Danville, IL 61834.
