Stephen Ruel Compton

CHAMPAIGN- Stephen R. “Zap” Compton, 58, of Champaign passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Danville VA Hospital. Zap was born on March 29, 1955 in Champaign, Illinois to Ruel and Ethel Fields Compton. Over the years, Zap worked as a residential carpet layer, sanitary worker, wrecker driver, EMT and worked at many locations as a bouncer. Cremation rights have been accorded by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign. There will be a private family celebration: Memorials may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, IL, The American Diabetes Foundation and the University of Illinois Extension Unit 24.
