Stephen Ross

Stephen Carl Ross, age 63 of Seymour, passed away at his home Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 10:12 PM with his family by his side. He was born April 21, 1952 in Pana, Illinois to Carl Golden and Betty Jean (Cook) Ross. Steve is survived by his children, Nathan Ross and Cassie (Josh) McConkey, both of Seymour; his grandchildren, Sunni Ross, and Kale and Sophia McConkey; mother, Betty Ross of Royal; brother, James F. (Susan) Ross of Ogden; sister Shirley M. Woodward of Ogden; his aunt Shirley and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Ross. Steve was a truck driver and also did janitorial work at various places. He loved to take care of his house plants and garden. Steve grew hot peppers in his garden and enjoyed making his own salsa. In his earlier years, Steve loved spending time riding his motorcycle. He loved his family very much and they will all miss him dearly. Per Steve's wishes he will be cremated and a family sharing will be held Monday, August 31, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 N. Neil Street, Champaign. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials in his name can be made to The American Cancer Society.
