Stephen Steve Lee Potter, 67, of Danville, passed away at 1:18 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Steve was born on December 28, 1938 in Danville, the son of Milo and Mary (Norris) Potter. He married Sandra Jones on February 29, 1964 in Danville. She survives. He is survived by his two sons-Joseph (Beverly) Potter of Danville and Jayson (Michelle) Potter of Conyers, Georgia; two daughters- Mandie Potter of Danville and Julie Ortez of Leroy, Illinois; three brothers- Sam ( Mary Jo) Potter of Georgetown, Donald Mouse (Pam) Potter of Indianola, and Keith Rocky (Lesile) Potter of El Mirge, Arizona; five sisters- Sharon (Keith) Walker of Georgetown, Vickie Rouse of Georgetown, Susan Malkus (Bob Voyles) of Fairmount, Sara Mingee of Tilton, and Shelley Butchie Potter(Bobby Land) of Ridge Farm; one brother-in-law- Ronald (Dottie) Jones; two sisters-in-law- Nancy (Bill) Hamilton and Pamela (Marvin) Cooley; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 4 aunts; and 25 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Albert and Jewell Willie Potter, one infant sister- Lynn Potter and one nephew Travis Potter. Steve attended Danville High School. He started working at Chuckles Candy Factory in 1964 and worked there until he retired in September of 2003. Steve enjoyed collecting John Deere collectables. He enjoyed going to farm auctions and to antiques tractor pulls. He loved to mow his yard and enjoyed cars. Stephen loved to be around his children and his grandchildren. A celebration of the life of Stephen Steve Lee Potter will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Rev. Patti Wise officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Union Corner United Methodist Church.
