WESTVILLE - Stephen J. Toth, 71, of Westville, passed away on Monday, July 21st, 2008, at his home with his family at his side. He was born on August 13th, 1936, in Danville, IL, the son of Steve and Raymond (Detournay) Toth. Stephen married Carole J. Finet on July 31st, 1954, in Westville. She survives. Also surviving are: his children, Lonny (Lyle) Rigdon of Pawnee, IL, Chris (Mark) McDaniels of Georgetown, IL, Barb (Michael) Rowley of Oakland, IL, and Matt (Shari) Toth of Westville, IL; his seven grandchildren, Luke Rigdon, Nick & Bryan McDaniels, Jared & Lauren Rowley, David & Jason Toth; one great grandchild, Alexi McDaniels; and two sisters, Ethel (Bill) Mazrum and Marion McCarthy; as well as, many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond & William. Stephen graduated from Westville High School in 1954. He worked at Lauhoff Grain Company for 38 years before retiring in 1998. During his time at Lauhoff, he held various offices with Local 972, including president and vice-president. He also held offices within the Jaycees, Westville Sportsman Club, Danville Boat Club, Leisure Time, and the Belgium Board, as well as serving 15 years on the Lauhoff Credit Union Board of Directors. Stephen loved the outdoors whether it was in his garden, which he was known to grow more than needed just to give things away, or their place on the lake where he spent countless hours keeping it up for the many family gatherings held there, or out in the woods where he spent every spring and fall mushroom hunting. His love of travel took him and Carole on many vacations and cruises to the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, Alaska, Ireland, New England, Florida, and Alabama. He was also an avid Illini and NASCAR fan. He will be missed by many. A celebration of Stephens life will be held at 7:00pm, Thursday, July 24th, 2008, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with Chaplain Tony Crouch officiating. Visitation will be held from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday prior to the service. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Stephens name may be given to the Westville Public Library, Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School Music Boosters, or the Westville High School Varsity Baseball Program.
