Stephen Barnes

Stephen M. Barnes, aka "Papa Bean", 67, of Westville, passed away at 3:54pm, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at his home. He was born on September 26, 1956, in Danville, IL, the son of Robert and Shirley {Jones} Barnes. His father preceded him in death. He was wed to Valerie Parker in 2004, she survives. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley Barnes; his mother-in-law, Lynn Parker; his step-sons, Lance (Joy) Warstler of Galax, VA, Nathan (Amelie) Warstler of Madagascar, Nicholas (Kitwana) Warstler of Royal; and Layton Warstler of Westville; his several grandchildren, Evan, Lance, Abel, Jaxon, Maverick, Lighting, Tiana, Novalee, Gera, Nathan, and Emersyn; his siblings, Robert (Jenny) Barnes of Westville, Cindy (Tim) McAlpin of Champaign, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and his good friend, Donnie Black. He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Barnes, and his father-in-law, Carroll Parker. Stephen worked at the Danville Correctional Facility for 25 years until his retirement. He was a hardcore Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. A Celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later time. He will be accorded cremation rites. Memorial donations may be given in his name to the donors choice of charity.
