Stanley Smith

Stanley M. Smith, 69 of Danville passed away at 11:22am Thursday June 23, 2005 at his residence. He was born September 24, 1935 in his grandparents home in Hoopeston, Illinois; the son of the late Paul Roy and Rachael (Long) Smith. He married Clarice Jane Johnson on April 13, 1956 in Rossville. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2000. Survivors include two sons; Michael Paul Smith of Danville and Tony Wayne (Christine) Smith of Ripon, Wisconsin; two daughters; Sandra Kay (William) Pankow and Theresa Lynn (Paul Scott) Kinney, both of Danville; seven grandchildren; Amy Pankow, Ashley Pankow, Ryan Hill, Abygail Smith, Lindsay Smith, Reece Kinney, and Spencer Kinney; one brother; Donald (Mary) Smith and one sister; Carol Sheets, both of Danville. He was preceded death by his parents and wife. Stanley was a draftsman with Illinois Power Company, retiring in 1996 with 40 years of service. He was previously an active member in the old Lincoln United Methodist Church in Danville. He was an Eagle Scout and member of the Danville Boat Club. In the 1950-60s, he had his own orchestra, The Stanley Smith Orchestra, he was their drummer and they played the Big Band Sound. He enjoyed music, boating, fishing, camping and traveling with his late wife. He loved spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
