Stanley Dale Parr, 87, of Danville passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at VA Iliana Healthcare System in Danville, IL. He was born on June 26, 1928 in Summum, IL to Floyd Dale Parr and Mabel (Peek). He married Gracie Louise (Barton) in Havana, IL on September 2, 1950, she survives. Surviving children, Janine Wallace, S. Bruce (Lisa) Parr, Floyd Dale (Vicki) Parr, II; brothers and sisters, Emily Ayoub, Juanita Jean (Gene) Edwards, Thelma (Frank) Taylor, Sandra (Stoney) Stonecipher, Linda (Keith) Tatro, Dale (Cheryl) Parr, Sue Parr, Ronnie Parr, Connie Parr; grandchildren, Bryan (Windy) Wallace, Lukas (Jennifer) Parr, Lacey (Dave) Enyeart and Larken Parr; great-grandchildren, Daphnee Enyeart, Liam Enyeart, Delanee Enyeart; step-grandchild, Chris (Jennifer) Cork. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Norma Bowon and Betty Coats. He graduated Astoria High in 1946. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard for 6 years and Active Duty US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1953. He Graduated Cal State Northridge in 1964. Stanley was the Assistant Controller at Northrup Corporation until he retired and purchased Royal Oak Motel in Santa Paula, CA, in 1973 then Redwood Inn in Danville, IL in 1978, which he operated until 1996. A celebration of Stanley's life will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 12:30 PM at the VA protestant Chapel in Danville IL, with Miles Clark and Ron Ziemer officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30-12:30 PM prior to the service. Stanley will be laid to rest at Danville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to be made in his name to the VA Iliana Palliative Care Unit, 1900 East Main St. Danville, IL 61832.
