Stanley Scott Coombs

Stanley Scott Coombs, 22, of Waynetown, Indiana, died after a long battle with physical and mental illnesses on Monday, February 3, 2025.

He was born on November 23, 2002, in Champaign, Illinois, to parents Paul and Joanna Coombs. Stanley was a quick learner and a good singer from a very young age. He enjoyed inventing his own toys, building things out of popsicle sticks, string, paper, and tape. He shared his father’s love for Lego Building Blocks. While attending Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School, Stanley enjoyed running on the Cross Country and Track teams, singing in the choir, and being captain of the Scholastic Bowl Team. He also enjoyed performing with the Paris Community Theater. Stanley was chosen for the All-District Choir and named an Illinois State Scholar.

Stanley was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Michael Wayne Coombs, and his baby sister, Christianna Coombs, and is survived by his parents, Paul and Joanna Coombs, his fiancée, Mary Logsdon, his brother, Morgan Coombs, grandparents Brad and Maryanna Smith and Sally (Tom) Coombs-Berberich, aunts and uncles Carrie (Phil) Bussmann, Julie (Todd) Hetrick, David (Missy) Smith, Kelli (Joseph) Dalton, and Jason Smith, and many cousins and friends who will miss him dearly, especially his close friend, John Phipps.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 pm Illinois time (1:00-3:00 pm Indiana time) on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Cayuga Christian Church, 406 South Logan Street, Cayuga, IN, with the funeral immediately following. Memorial donations may be made toward Stanley’s funeral expenses at Sunset Funeral Home, 200 E West Street, Georgetown, IL, 61846.
