Sonya J. Powell

Sonya J. Powell, 70, of Danville passed away at 3:20 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2018 peacefully at her home. She was born on August 27, 1947 to Wesley and Betty (Chezem) Miller. Both preceded her in death. She has one very special aunt, Barbara Chezem Lientz of West Plains, MO. Sonya married Lester Powell Sr. on November 8, 1965. He survives. They had 3 children together; Lester (Ericka) Powell Jr., Diane (Mike) Powell and Janet (Daniel) Shuman, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren including Cheyenne and Reiley Powell who preceded her in death. Sonya enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband. She loved the outdoors, camping, gardening, and also feeding and watching the birds. Sonya loved all her special pets. A celebration of Sonya's life will be held at 6PM on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Jim Blue officiating.
