Sonia (Tilton) Snapp, 86, of Danville, passed away at 8:36a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Hawthorne Inn of Danville. Sonia was born on April 1, 1923 in Danville, the daughter of Sam R. and Pearl A. (Keller) Tilton. She married George A. Snapp. . He preceded her in death after World War II in 1945. Survivors include one daughter Georgeann (Dr. C. Edward) Miller of Scottsdale, AZ; two grandchildren, Melissa Procter of California, and Eric E. Miller of Arizona, two great-grandchildren, and special friends, Martha Stine, Marty Watters, Marilyn Tatar, Jeff Cook, Joanie Huffman, and Cliff Alexander. Sonia graduated from Danville High School. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois where she earned a Master of Education Degree plus 6 years and one advanced certificate of supervision. She was a teacher and principal for Danville School District #118; serving at Fairchild, Daniel, Oaklawn, and Douglas schools. She attended St James United Methodist Church. Sonia was a member of the Illinois and National Education Associations, and University of Illinois Alumni and Gold Star Wives. Per Sonias wishes, cremation will be accorded. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery, Catlin, Illinois with private graveside services held at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation center in charge of arrangements.
