Simon Ezekiel Hepburn

Simon EzeKiel Hepburn, son of Billie Stine of Catlin, IL and Allen Hepburn of Anderson, IN, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2023, at the age of 21. Simon is survived by his parents, brother Noah Hepburn of Springfield IL, sisters Katie (Chase) Arihood of Knoxville, TN and Grey Rife; grandmothers Cam Kelly, Jean Raymer, and Deb Hepburn, grandfather Bill Stine, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family. Preceded in death by grandfather, Mike Hepburn. Simon was a lifelong resident of Vermillion County, attending Salt Fork High School where he played football and baseball. He loved outdoor activities, especially swimming in the pond and catching snakes and turtles, and he was a great cook with a special talent for smoked salmon, ribs, and "really knew what to do with a pork loin!" Simon also shared a special bond with his younger sister Grey, who called him "Bubbie." In 2015, while still in high school, Simon found his passion when he began working with special needs children as a volunteer for Ambucs Summer Camp in Danville. After graduating, he became a teachers aide with the Vermillion Association for Special Education, working with 1st - 5th grade students at Middlefork School for the past 3 years. He will be greatly missed by his students, teaching colleagues, family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Ambucs Summer Camp-Danville. Visitation will be held 1:00pm 3:00pm, Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with service immediately following. A Celebration of Life will also be held at The Fireside Event Space in Westville from 5-9pm on Thursday.
