Shirrill Jeannine Pate

Danville- Shirrill Jeannine Pate, 74, of Danville passed away at 10:48 am on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Presence USMC in Danville, IL. Shirrill was born on July 5, 1942 the daughter of Earl and Virginia (Montgerard) Attan in Danville, IL. She is survived by her son, Tom (Kathy) Pate of Macomb, MI, her daughter, Stacey (Mark) Wodrich of Geneva, IL, her brother, Earl Attan of Clarksville, TN, her five grandchildren, Madison Pate of Macomb, MI, Nick, Brock, Aniya and Amelia Wodrich all of Geneva, IL, two nieces, Susan (Patrick) McClure and Amy (Zachary) Brough, a special cousin, Elaine Vallangeon as well as lifelong friends, Sue Barr, Janice Elwell and Kay Thomason. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Amber Jaye Michelle Lynn, two brothers, Bobbie and Jackie Attan, and one sister, Virginia Attan. Shirrill started her 28-year career with Danville School District 118 as a cook and later became a teacher's aide. She later obtained her bachelors degree from Eastern Illinois University and retired from the district as a 4th grade teacher. Shirrill was a member of the Illiana Genealogy Society and the Hearts and Hands Quilt Guild. She was interested in a variety of music and enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. She would also spend her free time scrapbooking, cake decorating, advocating for foster children and was a fan of "Snoopy" the cartoon character. Over the years she was very active in her children's school activities, like the PTA, and had served as a leader for Girl Scouts. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Drew Mentzer. Inurnment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville, IL at a later date. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Shirrill's memory to the Illiana Genealogy Society or the American Cancer Society.
