Shirley Wagle

Shirley J. (Vinson) Wagle, 67, of Danville, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2008, at home with her family by her side. She was born February 1, 1940, in Danville, the daughter of Estel Spud and Alice (Goodwine) Vinson. She married Ron Wolfe and together they had two sons, Greg and Troy. Shirley later married John Wagle on November 20, 1969. Shirley is survived by her sons, Greg (Beth) Wolfe of Oakwood, IL and Troy (Carolyn) Wolfe of Henning, IL; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremy) Zaayer of Georgetown, IL, Tori (Kyle) Appl of St. Joseph, IL, Stephen Wolfe of Henning, IL, Christina (Ryan) Smalley of Bismarck, IL, Dustin Burns of Champaign, IL, Becca Woodard of New York, Heather Burns of St. Charles, MO, and Sarah (Joshua) Hunsberger of Oakwood, IL; three great-grandchildren Maddison Appl, Cameron Burns, Ella Smalley and a special great-granddaughter on the way; two sisters, Peggy Pulver of Highland Village, TX and Beverly Kimberlin of Danville, one sister-in-law, Ruth (Vinson) Fletcher of Oakwood, IL.; and many nieces and nephews including one very special niece, Carolyn Dearth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Robert and Paul Vinson. Shirley graduated from Oakwood Township High School class of 1958. She was an employee of Sears for 43 years. After retiring, she maintained many close relationships with fellow employees and became active with the Sears Retirees Group. Shirley was also an active member of the local Corvette clubs where she was co-founder and secretary/treasurer of the Corvette Cruisers of Illinois. She enjoyed being the one to gather the Corvettes for all of the area high school homecoming and local holiday parades. Shirley was an avid shopper, die hard Illini fan, and anybody that knew her knew that she loved the color red. Above all else she had no greater joy than being Nanny to her grandkids. The family would like to thank her many friends who have called, sent cards, or visited during her illness. A celebration of Shirleys life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Sunsets Community & Life Tribute Center (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Home) with Pastor Allen Miller officiating. Burial will be at Stearns Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Sunsets Community & Life Tribute Center. Memorials may be made to the Vermilion County Dare Program in care of the Corvette Cruisers of Illinois. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at: www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
