Shirley Ann Thompson (née Larsen) passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Danville, Illinois, the city where she was born on December 1, 1938. Her life, defined by steadfast commitment to her family, faith, and community, left an enduring impact on all who knew her.

A lifelong resident of Georgetown, Shirley’s roots ran deep in her hometown. She was a proud and devoted member of the Georgetown Church of the Nazarene since 1977. Over the decades, her exceptional organizational skills and integrity served the church well as its secretary and treasurer. Her efforts behind the scenes not only provided strength and continuity to the congregation but also reflected her humble nature and tireless dedication to service.

Outside her professional and volunteer commitments, Shirley cherished the simple pleasures of life. She found solace and satisfaction in tending to her garden, her love for flowers evident in the beauty. Sitting on the porch, she often found peace in quiet moments, appreciating the rhythms of nature and the comfort of home.

Shirley’s devotion to her family was unwavering. She is survived by her son, Brian L. (Violet Crippin) Thompson; her daughter, Janet Kay (George) Sprouls; grandchildren, Rachel, Ren, Jeanine, Darla, Carolyn, Dayna, Cody, Jennie, Levi, Doug, Johnathan, & Kimberly; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will continue to live through them.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Thompson; her father, Ernest Larsen; her mother, Susan Larsen; her daughter, Rayna Stevenson; her son, Dale Thompson; her grandson, Dustin Thompson; and her brother, Ronald Larsen. Though deeply missed, the memories shared by all who loved her remain a source of comfort and strength.

Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with Gary Farris officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 3901 N. Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834

Shirley Ann Thompson leaves behind a legacy marked by compassion, faithfulness, and a gentle spirit. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
