Shirley Smith, 88, of Danville passed away early Saturday morning July 22, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones at home. She was born March 4, 1929 in Moline, IL to Kenneth and Margaret (Sansale) Kinkead. She married Charles Smith Sr. on October 5, 1978, he survives. She is survived by three brothers; Ronald (Teresa), Gerald (Jo An) and Bernie (Mirian) Kinkead; eight children, Linda (Andy) Connell of Surprise, AZ, Debra (Cal) Jensen of Monmouth, IL, Rebecca (Pat) Doan of Danville, IL, David Wendell of Fithian, IL, Steven (Stacy) Wendell of Oakwood, IL, Cheryl (Troy) Sullivan of Danville, IL, Cynthia (Bill) Cambron of Danville, Dennis (Cherie) Wendell of Oakwood, IL; two stepchildren, Sherry Smith of Fargo, ND and Charles Smith Jr. of Baltimore, MD; 27 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren. She retired in 1991 from Kmart after many years of service. Her greatest enjoyments were spending time with her family, friends and reading. Her biggest hobby was BINGO, which she enjoyed many times a week. Per her request there will be no visitation or funeral services. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life Memorial at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion, Danville, IL is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to the Danville Cancer Center in Danville, IL.
