Shirley Schofield, 85, of Danville passed away at 11:45 am on October 23, 2012. Shirley was born on June 28, 1927 in Rankin IL. to Robert Sloan and Mildred (Leemon) Sloan. She married Stanley Schofield on September 8, 1946, he survives. Other survivors include two sons Bruce (Barbara) Schofield of Danville and Brad Schofield of Ogden, one daughter Marcia Schofield of Danville, three grandsons Andrew (Kim) Schofield, Travis (Blake) Schofield, and Robert (Melissa) Raguet-Schofield, and 4 beloved great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, young brother James, and her sister Pat. Shirley graduated from DACC with an associate's degree in child care and went on to work at the DACC child development center as a teacher and later a department administrator. She was an active member of the Governor Bradford Chapter NSDAR and served as the Defense Chairman. Shirley was not only talented at arts and crafts but able to teach others as well through seminars and classes. She loved to decorate for the holidays and would bake a cookie tree each Christmas that the neighborhood children would look forward to eating. Shirley loved bird watching, gardening and teaching and found joy in arranging a hootenanny for her friends and families. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 11:00 am on October 27, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home In Danville with Rev. Gordan Edgington officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials can be made in Shirley's name to the Governor Bradford Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution to be used for their charitable works.
