Shirley Piper

Shirley Piper, 86, of Danville passed away at 12:29am on Tuesday April 23, 2019. Shirley was born on November 20, 1932 the daughter of Fred and Opal Engelman. On October 10, 1969 she married the love of her life Larry Wayne Piper and they spent the next 35 years together until his passing on April 18, 2005.

Shirley is survived by son, Stephen (Denise) Becker; daughters, Cindy (Terry) Schertzer, Crystal (Doug) Jacobs; grandchildren, Cassandra (Nick) Elliott, Eric (Charlotte) Becker, Megan Schertzer, Morgan Schertzer, Jon (Tatum) Schertzer, Hunter (Leah) Jacobs and great-grandchildren, Madelynn Elliott, Bailey Elliott and Abigail Schertzer.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Shirley graduated from Danville High School before working at AT&T where she retired in 1992 after 30 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed traveling and camping. In her spare time, Shirley could be found playing golf, cards, or dominos with her friends and family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm on Friday April 26, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church 440 N. Walnut St., Danville. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1pm to 2pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, the Vermilion County Humane Society or to the charity of your choice.
