Shirley A. McCormick

Shirley Ann (Hamilton) McCormick passed away on September 18th and is now in the arms of her savior, whom she strongly believed in. Shirley was born in Tell City, Indiana, to Benjamin Dallas Hamilton and Lola Ann Westerfeld Hamilton on December 31, 1936, and was the 5th of 7 kids.

Shirley married the love of her life, William Hambleton McCormick, on January 18th, 1957, in Henderson, KY. They had four children: Bob (Helen) McCormick, Mary (John) White, Mark (Jane) McCormick, and Jim (Ann) McCormick. She was also blessed with six grandchildren (Kristopher, Rebecca, Kara, Matthew, Maggie, and Andrew) and four great-grandchildren (Jude, Quinn, Jefferson, and Clyde). Shirley has one surviving sister, Betty King, residing in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her father and mother, as well as several brothers and sisters.

She brought light and joy to everyone she was around. She will be missed by all but will never be forgotten. We would like to thank the staff at Heritage Woods in Charleston, the staff at Rebekah Odd Fellows Home and Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home - Harmony Center in Mattoon, as well as Hospice of Sarah Bush. They were all very caring and provided Shirley with great care and compassion during the later part of her life here on earth.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 N. Neil Street, Champaign, IL 61820. Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the ceremony at Calvary Cemetery in Philo.
