Cayuga, Ind. - Shirley Mae McDonald, 88, of Cayuga, passed away at 3:40 p.m. EST Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Gibson Family Hospice in Terre Haute, Indiana.

She was born April 5, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of the late Matthew and Helen Netzel Theis.

Shirley married Clifford L. McDonald on June 21, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2017.

Survivors include her children, Donna(Jim)Carson of Kingman, Indiana; Laura(Mark)Mikel of Perrysville, Indiana; Bill(Julie)McDonald of Bismarck, Illinois and Kathy Bee of Cayuga, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren along with her great-grand furbaby, Bridgett.

Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters.

Shirley retired as a bookkeeper at Case International in Danville, Illinois. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Covington, Indiana and was a member of Thousand Trails in St. Bernice, Indiana. Shirley was a 1945 graduate of St. Michaels High School. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, camping, traveling, gambling, bowling, fishing, watching her favorite shows on TV Land and spending time with her family.

Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. EST Friday, November 22, 2019 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana with the Rosary being recited at 1:45 p.m. EST at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following visitation and a private family inurnment will take place at Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana at a later date. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is honored to be caring for the family.
