Universal, Ind. -- Shirley Mae Davis, 68, of Universal and formerly of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away at 1:07 p.m. EDT Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at West Central Community Hospital in Clinton, Indiana. Shirley was born November 15, 1940 in Vermillion County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Don Edward and Elsie Rudd Davis. Survivors include two sons, Don Timothy Davis and Jeffery Davis both of Universal, Indiana; grandson, Joseph Davis of Montezuma, Indiana; sister in law, Janeen Davis of Cayuga, Indiana; special friend, Sharon Hambright of Universal, Indiana; one niece; three nephews; several great nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by one grandson and a brother, Jim Davis. Shirley formerly worked at General Electric in Danville, Illinois. She later worked as a bartender in Parke and Vermillion County, Indiana for several years. She was a 1958 graduate of Cayuga High School. Shirley was a member of the Montezuma Fish and Game Club. She enjoyed crocheting, raising house plants, NASCAR, Elvis and spending time with her special companion, Tilly (Her Cat). Most of all she enjoyed being with family and friends, especially her grandson, Joseph. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, May 2, 2009 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Paul Kent; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EDT until time of services Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the funeral home.
