Shirley Ann Lazzell, 86, of Danville, IL went home to be with Jesus and the love of her life Billy Dean Lazzell at 7:10 pm, Thursday, October 27, at OSF in Danville, Il. Surrounded by her family.
The world was blessed with her birth on March 5, 1936 in Danville, Il. The daughter of Oscar Willburn Seyfert and Mildred Louise Johnson (Allen). Both deceased.
Shirley married the great love of her life Billy Dean Lazzell on September 2, 1953. He proceeded her in death on July 20, 2017 and was waiting at the pearly gates of heaven with his arms wide open for her.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her children Kathy Gritton of Orlando, Fl., Danny (Bonnie Reed) Lazzell of Danville, Il., Lisa (Brian) Wells of Tolono, Il. 19 grand children, 27 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and too many nieces and nephews to count.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister, her husband, and her first born son, Gary Dean Lazzell.
Shirley was a car hop at steak n Shake until she met her husband, Billy. Then she became a mother of their four children, whom she raised with love, kindness and compassion. She was small but mighty. Strong but gentle. Full of Love and kindness. She had the patience of a saint. She truly was the rock of our big, beautiful family. You never heard her speak an unkind word about anyone. Shirley loved Elvis Presley. She even had her own record room full of his music and photos. She loved to have big family gettogethers , cook big meals and play board games. She loved her soap operas. She loved to be outside and walk. You probably seen her on her daily walks up and down Vermilion st. to steak n Shake for coffee and then she would be off again to VIPs for her hot tea and socializing. She was never at a loss for words. she never met a stranger. She never forgot a name or a face and she never ever forgot a birthday! She would spend hours in Hallmark picking out the perfect cards for the people she was thinking of. She put her heart and soul into the messages. She even had the Postal Service down to a science. She knew what day to mail it so it arrived on your birthday. It didnt matter who you were to her, she never forgot! "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck" was her signature. This is just one example of the sweet soul she was.
Her love will live on in all of us. Thats all she ever truly wanted. She wanted to know that when she was gone her family would carry on her legacy. Always love one another, be kind and take care of each other. Forgive, forget and love Jesus.
