Shirley M. (Kellum) Kassl, 71 of Danville, passed away at 3:37 am on February 20, 2009 at the Bromenn Hospital in Bloomington, IL. She was born on July 7, 1937, in Industry, IL, the daughter of Howard D. and Dorothy (Ayers) Kellum. Both deceased. On November 26, 1955, Shirley married Mr. Larry Kassl at the Grace Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL. He survives along with their four daughters, Cindy (Bob) Schenk of Danville, Pam (Brian) Warner of Danville, Linda (Ron) Brockett of Leroy, and Sherry Castongue (fianc(c)e Tracy Smith) of Danville. Her eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Kate) Schenk, Jessica (Danny) Schugel, Jacki Schenk, Charlie Warner, Katie Kassl, Colton Castongue, Cheyenne and Amber Brockett. Her seven great-grandchildren, Timothy, Michela, and Josie Schenk, Aaliyah, and Aalissa Schugel, Jaydn Strack, and Christyan Forbes Jr. Five brothers, Howard (Kim) Kellum of IL, Donald (Kathy) Kellum of IN, John (Rose) Kellum of IN, Terry (Jane) Kellum of Texas, Joe Kellum of Kansas, her four sisters, Iva (Bernie) Jahn of Texas, Carol (Sonny) Flint of IL, Bonnie (Kelly) Stillings of Col. Connie (Kevin) Teel of IL, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Her two brothers, Albert and Richard Kellum, her sister, Dorothy Kells, and her grandson, David Warner, precede Shirley in death. Shirley graduated from Macomb High School in Macomb, IL. She was a devoted homemaker, and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. She enjoyed going to casinos, getting scratch-off lottery tickets, bowling, and treasured the time she had with her family as well as attending all of her children and grandchildrens sporting events.
