Shirley Jane Curl

Shirley Jane (Sibley) Curl, 91, formerly of Danville, passed away on Monday, August 28 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born July 27, 1926 in Normal, IL, the daughter of Arthur Sibley and Marie (Sibley) Aschermann. She married James A. Curl on May 24, 1946 in Mount Carmel, IL. She attended Villa Grove schools and graduated from Paris High School. Shirley enjoyed bingo and exercising at the YMCA, where she was a member for over 40 years. During her retirement years Shirley, along with her husband Jim, was a Texas "snowbird" and also traveled to Arkansas. She was always a good listener and loved helping people. She attended St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and grandson. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Glick (Harold) of Springfield and Christine Michael (Cloyce) of Decatur, four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 on Friday, September 1 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville at 3940 N. Vermilion St., followed by a memorial service with Father Bo Schmitt .
