Shirley J. Ellis

Shirley J. Ellis 62, of Oakwood, passed away at 4:33 PM, Thursday August 11, 2011, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Shirley was born on May 16, 1949 to Irene (Alton) Mason in Hickory Hills Chicago IL. She was the beloved wife of William "Bill" Ellis who she married November 24, 1979 in Chicago, IL. He survives. She is also survived by one son-Kevin (Kassie) Ellis of Dana, IN, one step-daughter of Cindy(Ed) Brown of Paxton, IL, one brother-in-law- Owen "Smokey" (Phyllis) Ellis Jr. of Danville, one sister-in-law- Clostella "Sug" McBride of Danville, one nephew- Brian Ellis of Danville, and two grandchildren- Devin Jon and Peyton Ryder. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. Shirley graduated from Argo High School in Chicago IL. She worked at Zayres in Danville for fifteen years and also worked for George and Judy Coates at Coates Bookkeeping and Taxes for fifteen years. She enjoyed computers and most especially her two grandsons. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday August 17, 2011 at Danville National Cemetery with Pastor Patricia Phillips officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville. Memorials may be made in Shirley's name to the American Heart Association.
