Shirley (Sharp) Hoover, 73 of Danville, IL, formerly of Flora, IL. passed away at 11:25 P.M. on Friday, August 24th, 2012 at the Danville Care Center. She was born on September 2, 1938 in Flora, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Bernice (Persinger) Sharp. She is survived by her three sons, Sam Smith of Danville, Rick Hoover of Danville, Mike Hoover of Danville and her two daughters, Debbie Lathrop of Danville, and Lee Jones (Chris) of Fairmount, IL. Her fourteen grandchildren, her fourteen great grandchildren, and her five bothers, Raymond Sharp of Mattoon, IL, Brian and Susie Sharp of Flora, IL, Chuck and Judy Sharp of Springfield, IL, Leon and Glenda Sharp of Louisville, IL, and Bobby Wilkins of Texas also survive her. Her parents, her husband, John, her three brothers, Junior, Bill, and Terrence, and her infant sister, Betty Jean Wilkins preceded Shirley in death. She was a homemaker and worked at the Little Nugget in the 70's. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Flora, IL, along with others. Shirley and her husband John were both members of the GAO Grotto in Danville, IL where they hosted dinners and activities. Her hobbies included being in the Bunco club, playing bingo, and playing Phase 10 and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and church family. She will be missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life service for Shirley Hoover is scheduled for 2 P.M. on Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a life celebration home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL. with burial to take place at Bethel Cemetery following the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 at the funeral home.
