Shirley J. Denhart, 72, of Danville, passed this life and was welcomed into Heaven at 1:40pm on Monday, December 14, 2009. She was born on August 18, 1937, in Danville, the daughter of Ralph and Naomi (Pichon) Miller. She married Melvin Sonny Denhart Jr. in 1956. He survives. Other survivors include her two sons, Mike Denhart (Penny McConnell), Mark (Leahann) Denhart of Danville, and her daughter, Sue (Bruce) Donohoe of Danville. Shirley is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Shannan (Jim) Montgerard, Trisha (Tim) Pouilliard, Tom Krauel, B.J. (Holly) Krauel, Adam (Abby) Denhart, Paige Denhart, Hope Denhart, Jordan Denhart. Her seven great-grandchildren, Hunter Krauel, Hillery Montgerard, Tannar, and Tyler Pouilliard, Jackson Reynolds, Garrett Denhart, and Kaitlyn Krauel. Her two sisters, Kay (Gary) Boggess of Georgetown, Coni Marble of Texas, her many nieces and nephews, along with her lifetime best friend, Janet Winkler also survive Shirley. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Rodney, in laws, Melvin and Mary Denhart, a sister, Joy Hougland, a son in law, Brad Krauel, and a brother in law, Gene Fauver. Shirley was a graduate of Oakwood High School and a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Danville. Shirley was first employed with Illinois Bell, and later in life, worked at the K-Mart Retail Store in Danville until her retirement. Shirley also was a nanny for several families throughout her life, which she enjoyed very much. She was an avid Chicago Cubs, and George Strait fan. She enjoyed attending sporting events that her children and later, grandchildren participated in, as well as spending time with her family and church family. Shirley was a very good cook and enjoyed having her family together. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and loved buying gifts for others. She will be missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Life Service for Shirley Denhart will begin at 2:00pm on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with burial to take place at Oakhill Cemetery following service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirleys name to the Cure PSP.
