Shirley D (Justus) Collins

Shirley D. Collins, 86, of Rantoul passed away at home on October 4, 2024.

Shirley was born November 15, 1937 in Buchanan County, Virginia to Daniel and Mary (Cantell) Justus.  She was later adopted by her Aunt and Uncle Elbert and Lillian Davis.  She married Henry F Collins on January 21, 1955.  He passed away on August 2,  2007.

Survivors include her daughters, Connie (Jim) Quinn of Doylestown, PA and Lee (Doug) McMahon of Rantoul.  Grandchildren: James (Faith) Quinn IV, Amanda (Ben) Steinbach, Nick McMahon, Jordan McMahon, Madison (Jarod) Wilson.  Great-grandchildren: Breann McMahon, Sofia McMahon, Jaxson McMahon, Quinn Steinbach, James Quinn V, Lydia Steinbach and Aurora Wilson.  Also, her sister Donna Blizzard of Princeton WVA and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Henry F Collins Jr, daughter-in-law Sherrie Collins, siblings Ruby Blankenship and Leon “Sonny” Justus.

Mom had such a strength of character, she left the hills of Virginia to become a military wife.  Her joy in life was her family.  We will all miss the camping trips and her cooking! Those amazing breakfasts she fixed and her fried chicken!  No one left her home hungry, whether you liked it or not.  Her loving spirit will be missed.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday October 11 at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.  Rev. Dan DeWitt will officiate.  Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Lux Memorial Chapel.
