Shirley K. Coffing, 88, passed away at her home in Kingman on December 12, 2024. She was born September 4, 1936 in Danville, Illinois to the late Gladys and Joseph (Buella) Beckelhymer. She attended Perrysville High School. She married Dale Coleman on May 19, 1955. They spent nearly 10 years together before his unexpected passing in 1965. She later met and married John Coffing on December 9, 1966. They spent the next 52 years together until his passing in 2019.
Shirley was a faithful member of the West Liberty Church. She enjoyed baking and was the happiest when spending time with her grandchildren. She spent many days helping neighbors as well as out on the Coffing Brothers’ Orchard with John.
She is survived by her children Penny (Steve) Edwards, Nancy Coffing, Tony (Donna) Coleman, and Kim High; her grandchildren John Edwards; Andy Edwards; J.P. Hall; Samantha Hile; John Hile; Christina Duff; Erica Allen; Travis Coleman; Ava Coleman; David Rice; Kory High; Kortney High; Ramona Gill; Shane Osborn and Lenora Whittington; and her great grandchildren Jack Edwards; Ben Edwards, Ethan Edwards, Nolan Edwards, Kash High; Klaire Parker; Scarlett Parker; Emilee Rice; Malichi Whittington; Reese Barna; Iris Gill; Eli Gill; Cassandra Hile; Rayven Rodriguez; Caden Rodriguez; Daceian Hile; Kole Hile; Kaleb Hile; Heston Duff; Jaxon Dye; Kolin Knight; Everly Parker; Coleman Keller; and Archer Allen. She also leaves behind her sisters Rosemary Drollinger and Gladys Marshall.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her children Marita Hile, Stephen Coleman, and Suzy Osborne; grandson Jerry Hall; her siblings Evelyn Whitaker, Max Beckelhymer, Keith Beckelhymer, Annabelle Everett, and James Beckelhymer; and her stepbrothers Lloyd Shookman, Sam Shookman, and Robert Shookman.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm EST at West Liberty Church of Christ, located at 2806 West State Road 32 in Covington, IN. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow the visitation at 6:00 pm EST at the church that evening. Memorial contributions in her honor can be made to the West Liberty Church of Christ.
