Shirley A (Trunka) Cochran, 79 of Danville, IL was called home by God to join her heavenly family on June 17, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Shirley was born on July 21, 1945 to Anna and Joseph Trunka of Baltimore, MD. They preceded her in death.
Shirly grew up in Baltimore and graduated from Patterson High School and the University of Maryland. She worked for 18 years for the Indianapolis Public Schools in the Media Services Department.
In 1982 Shirley married John D. Cochran who preceded her in death on January 20, 2014. They were married 32 years.
They were lifelong friends and shared many of the same interests like gardening, flowers, computers and history. John was a gourmet cook and Shirley always enjoyed each surprising new meal he would prepare. Both John and Shirley loved animals, especially their cat, “Midnight” who is with John now. John was a great mentor and could be trusted in all his teachings. John has been dearly missed and Shirley looked forward to seeing him again.
Shirley attended St Paul’s Catholic Church in Danville, IL and being closer to God has helped her deal with her loss.
Her friends, Stan and especially Sally Hogsett will be greatly missed.
As per Shirley’s request, she will be buried in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.
