Danville- Shirley Ann Thornsbrough, 76, of Danville passed away at 9:15 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on November 26, 1934 in McFarland, KS to Arthur E. and Selma C. Senne Hasenbank. She married Marvin G. Thornsbrough on October 22, 1955 in Topeka, KS. He survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Karl (Cheryl) Thornsbrough of Oakwood, Kurt (Debbie) Thornsbrough of Catlin, and Marv Thornsbrough of Danville; daughter Amy (Scott) Eisenhauer of Danville and step-daughter Pam Hacquet of Terre Haute, IN; 2 brothers Charles (Carol) Dutton of OR and Kenny (Rene) Hasenbank of ME; 3 sisters, Betty Meyer of IA, Gloria Ricklefs of IA, and Sandy (John) Reagan of KS; grandchildren Blake and Drew Thornsbrough, Nicole Thornsbrough, Alexis and Alyssa Julian, and Kirsten Thornsbrough; step-grandchildren Marc Amore, Tammy Klugow, and Cheri Hancock; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers Art and Wayne Hasenbank. Shirley had worked at the Palmer Bank and Krogers, but her real love was cooking for the kids at Danville Lutheran School. Her favorite students were the good eaters. She was also a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Altar Guild and the Womens Guild. Shirleys morning devotional was very important to her. She enjoyed games with her family and her morning crossword puzzles. In addition she enjoyed playing the accordion and organ, cooking, and her vegetable garden. Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with family, especially her grandkids. A service to celebrate the life of Shirley Thornsbrough will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. Pastor Dan Fienen will officiate. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, March 30 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Memorials may be made to Danville Lutheran School or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
