Sherrill Halcomb went to be with the Lord on October, 16, 2016. Sherrill, loving husband, son, brother, uncle, step-father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend was born January 14, 1934 to Hubert and Valla Halcomb in Deland, IL and graduated in 1952 from Armstrong High School in Armstrong, IL. Sherrill graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL, after studying electronics. Sherrill served proudly in the US Army implementing early battlefield television technology, which lead him to filming atomic bomb testing in Nevada. In April1979, Sherrill married Odette (Andre) Pierce and became a father to her two sons, Douglas and Daniel Pierce. Sherrill retired, as Parts Manager, from Hurletron Altair in Danville, where he spent his career working with electronic controls for printing presses. Sherrill had a love of many things and was always willing to share his knowledge of antiques, gardening, and cars, but above all he enjoyed being with his family. As a member of the Second Church of Christ, Illiana Antique Auto Club, Danville Elks Club, and Danville Boat Club, Sherrill formed many friendships that were always dear to him. Sherrill is survived by his wife Odette, step-sons Doug (Greta), Dan (Tammy), grandchildren Maya, Drew and Molly as well as a sister, Lois Murrell (Rich), a brother Gene(Lilly) Halcomb and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation and celebration of Sherrill's life will be at Sunset Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm with a service immediately following.
