Shelby Jean Aquino, 72, of Rossville passed away at 8:12 pm, Thursday, November 6, at her home in Danville, IL with her family at her side. Shelby was born on April 24, 1936 in Piper City, Illinois the daughter of Hebron and Mary (Mosby) Garmon. She married Henry Aquino on August 12, 1955 in Danville, IL. She later gave birth to three sons. Shelby is survived by two sons, James (Lisa) Aquino of Bismarck, John (Pam) Aquino of Danville; a daughter-in-law Beth Aquino of Rankin; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers; several nieces and nephews; and three special friends Ina, Kay, & Marilyn. Shelby was preceded in death by her husband Henry (April 30, 2005), son Mark (September 12, 2008), her parents, two sisters and a brother. Shelby attended grade school in Strawn, IL. She graduated from Rossville-Alvin High School. She later attended and received her cosmetology license from the Danville School of Cosmetology in 1956. She worked as a beautician for a short period of time. She was also a wonderful cook who had worked at various restaurants around the Rossville area. She also ran the cafeteria at Rossville-Alvin school from 1986-1990 for Canteen. Shelby was an avid reader who most of all enjoyed mysteries. She loved gardening and canning fruits and vegetables with her mom. She loved to visit with friends and family. Most of all she loved her grandkids. Per Shelbys wishes she will be cremated with a private family service. Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center was entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Mom wished any memorials be made to the Holy Family Church Food Pantry. The family would also like to thank everyone involved in the final days of her life, Especially Julie Wolgomot and all the great people at Carle Hospice.
