Sheila M Arnette

Sheila Marie (Leigh) Arnette, 51, of Danville, a cancer survivor for the past 11 years, again fought a brave battle with cancer, passed peacefully at 7:55am on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born on February 14, 1960, in Danville, the daughter of John and Virginia (Gordon) Leigh. Sheila first married Danny Phillips. From this marriage are three children; Jessica (Larry) Parson, Daniel (Stephanie) Phillips, and Joey (Heidi) Phillips, all surviving of Westville, IL. She later married Brett Arnett. From this marriage, a daughter; Ashley Arnette, surviving, of Gibson City, IL. Sheila is also survived by her mother; Virginia, father; John, and step-mother; Louada Leigh. Her sister; Sherry (Henry) Place of Montezuma, IN, five brothers; Johnny, Marty, Billy (Wendy) Leigh of Danville, Wesley Leigh, and Bobby Cotton, both of Florida. Eight grandchildren; Shawn, Tyler, Daniel, Dustin, Daytona, Leila, Noah, Wiatt, two step-grandchildren, Jordan and Kyle, and one great-great grandson, Shawn III, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. One brother; Dale Leigh, one grandson; Joseph Phillips, and her grandparents, preceded Sheila in death. Sheila loved spending time with her family, playing bingo, and loving her puppy; Scruffie. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Sheila's family would like to thank the Carle Hospice Staff for their time and the care that was given to Sheila during her final days. A Celebration of Life Service for Sheila M. Arnette is scheduled for 2:00pm on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with burial to be held at Atherton Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
