Sharon Kaye Winslow

Danville – Sharon Kaye Winslow, 82, of Danville passed away at 6:26 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at her home. She was born on August 17, 1942 in Danville to Francis and Margaret (Erven) Zimmerman. She married Richard L. Dokey on August 22, 1958. She later married Walter Curtis Winslow on December 27,1974. He survives.

Also surviving are six children, Richard (Vanetta) Winslow of Danville, Richard (Darlena) Dokey of East Peoria, IL, Vicky (Vic) Sykes of Macon, GA, Vicki McCoy of Danville, Cindy (Kevin Gillen) O’Neil of Danville, and Doug Dokey of Danville; 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Margaret and Valentine Kotwasinski, father, Francis Zimmerman, a son-in-law John McCoy, a daughter-in-law Kathy Dokey, and a great-great granddaughter.

Sharon was a talented artist who specialized in creating incredible paintings. She would often travel the country to showcase her art and was a member of the Danville Art League. She also enjoyed playing cards, singing karaoke, shopping, and reading.

A service to celebrate the life of Sharon Winslow will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service on Wednesday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
