Sharon L. Sleva

Sharon L. Sleva, age 83, of Westville, Illinois passed away peacefully on November 5, 2026.

Born May 18, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois she was the beloved wife of John M. Sleva. Sharon attended St. Mary’s School and Westville High School and graduated from St. Elizabeth nursing school as a registered nurse. She worked in several area medical clinics and finished her career at Carle in Champaign before retiring in 2005.

Sharon will be remembered for her love of sewing, quilting and knitting. She was an excellent cook and loved baking cookies during the holidays. She especially enjoyed the holidays when her family was together to share a meal she cooked. She was also an avid reader.

Sharon is survived by John M. Sleva, her husband of 60 years; her daughter Julie Zimmerman (Ed); her son John J. Sleva (Tracy); and her grandchildren Alexandra Kaminski (Jack) and Owen Sleva. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Helen Ross and her brother Bob Ross.

A visitation for Sharon will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 414 South State Street Westville, IL. A rosary will be said 30 minutes prior to the start of the visitation. A funeral service will take place Monday, November 9, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville, IL, officiated by father Sauppe. Followed by a lunch at the St. Mary’s gym afterward. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church Altar & Rosary Society or to the Westville Library.
