Sharon Murdock

Sharon Murdock, 79, of Georgetown, passed away at 6:23pm, Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at her home. She was born on January 15, 1939, in Dixon, IL, the daughter of Paul and Mary {Newell} Wyer, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Billy Murdock on June 17, 1958, until his passing on January 15, 2015. She will be dearly missed by: her son, Jimmy (Sheila) Murdock of Belgium; her daughter, Paula (Larry) Thompson of Georgetown; her brother, Marven (Mary) Wyer of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ben) Rau, Emily (Charlie) Powell, Clay Thompson, Kimberly Bennett, Lindsee (Jordan) Decker, Chad (Lisa) Rossiter Sr., & Valerie Miller; and her fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her son, Kenny Murdock; and her grandson, Bruce Rossiter. Sharon worked at the Cast and Roberts Lumber yard and bartended part time. She loved going to lunch with her husband and meeting her family for lunch. She was proud she quit smoking in 1999 and told everyone she met to quit. She was so thrilled when she passed her driver's license test in January. Sharon enjoyed stopping by the Brunswick and having a Coke and she also enjoyed having breakfast with her friends and classmates. Sharon was an independent person and enjoyed reading when she could. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially by her granddog, Valerie. A Celebration of Sharon's life will be held at 12:00pm, Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown. Visitation will be held 10:00am to 12:00pm on Sunday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown.
